We were very pleasantly surprised at how quickly the First Edition of Family Bushwalks in South East Queensland sold out its initial print run of 2,500 copies. Following a question from a reader “Isn’t Toowoomba in SEQ?” we added a comprehensive Toowoomba Region chapter and beefed up the Somerset Region chapter for the Second Edition which is now available in shops and online at www.familybushwalks.com.au
Not long ago a cafe proprietor on the BVRT mentioned to me that she had nothing informative to give or sell to BVRT users. I promised to try to come up with something, and when we had finished preparing the Fifth Edition of Where to Mountain Bike in SEQ I realised this was a golden opportunity to piggyback the print run. Gillian quickly packaged up the Somerset chapter into a 12 page Guide to the BVRT and it is now in stock with a remarkable 20+ retailers in the Brisbane Valley.
Just before Christmas we received a shipment of our latest publication – the Fifth Edition of Where to Mountain Bike in South East Queensland. The Fourth Edition sold 8,000 copies and previous editions sold around 5,000 making this a local bestseller. My new book created with Gillian Duncan is now available for purchase at www.familybushwalks.com.au. It’s our third book, following two books of recreational trails for cyclists; this one is aimed at walkers and runners who want to go bush without committing to long distances or lots of climbing.
300 walks are described in detail including of course a brand new fully researched topo map showing all points of entry, resources like water and shelter, and making clear the effort required to complete the walk.
